about
With her self-titled debut EP scoring the number one spot on the acoustic Bandcamp chart and winning Chordblossom's Kickstart 2015, Lauren Bird is just beginning to take her place on the music scene. Laura Benitez from Unsigned & Unleashed writes, "The Northern Ireland native has managed to reach people all across the world with her honest lyrics about anxiety, love and heartbreak, and the everyday struggles of being alive. What Lauren Bird does so well is bring honesty to every song she writes."
The prize for winning Chordblossom's Kickstart 2015 included the opportunity to record a single at Millbank Studios in Lisburn with Michael Mormecha and James Lyttle. The result is Goodbye, Good Luck, a catchy folk/pop anthem about realising you are sometimes better off on your own. The single will be released on the 24th August followed by a single launch show in The Bar With No Name, Belfast on the 28th August with support from Isobel Anderson and Ciara O'Neill.
lyrics
Lyrics:
When the day comes I wait for you but you don’t arrive,
So I’m left sitting here hoping that you’ve read between the lines.
It’s not obvious but I don’t like telling people lies,
Not to you but then you think that I have several different times.
Well…
Goodbye, good luck with your endeavours,
I don’t have to put up with all of this forever,
You just seemed important for a time.
And now that I’m alone, we’re not together,
I don’t think I’ll miss you but never say never,
You just seemed important for a time.
When the night comes I realize I’m happiest alone,
I don’t need anyone to validate or call this place a home.
I don’t need anyone to tell me what I might become,
I know myself it will feel better when I am the one.
Well…
Goodbye, good luck with your endeavours,
I don’t have to put up with all of this forever,
You just seemed important for a time.
And now that I’m alone, we’re not together,
I don’t think I’ll miss you but never say never,
You just seemed important for a time.
When the day comes I’ll spend it doing anything I like,
Waiting around for someone isn’t really how I spend my time.
I wonder if you ever really read between the lines,
It doesn’t matter now I’m happier without you by my side.
Well…
Goodbye, good luck with your endeavours,
I don’t have to put up with all of this forever,
You just seemed important for a time.
And now that I’m alone, we’re not together,
I don’t think I’ll miss you but never say never,
You just seemed important for a time.
And now you’re out of time,
Now you’re out of time.
